IT’S ALIVE: Eagles-Patriots Haiku

Football is weird. This season is weirder than most. The NFC East might be one of the weirdest things I have ever seen in the sport.

That is really the only way I can wrap my head around what happened today — That a team that looked inept in all facets of the game for the better part of a month could knock off the defending Super Bowl champions on the road.

Where this goes from here is anyone’s guess. Logic suggests it’s still unlikely that the Eagles win the division. Math gives them a chance, along with the other three teams who inhabit it.

This improbable win can either go down as a footnote in a disappointing season or perhaps a springboard onto a winning streak and potentially an invitation into the second weekend of January.

Only the Eagles can decide that, but that they even have the opportunity to, is something we could not have fathomed a mere five hours ago.

Let’s hit the haiku, scoreboard watch tomorrow, and ruin the Bills’ season next Sunday:

Run like the wind Sproles

Brady can’t do without Gronk
